Nayagada, Aug 28: The Odisha government on Friday disbursed the fifth instalment of the Subhadra Yojana to 1,03,26,162 eligible women beneficiaries on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, transferring Rs 5,000 each to their bank accounts.
The latest disbursement amounted to more than Rs 5,160 crore. It also included 2,21,054 women who received financial assistance under the scheme for the first time.
Left-Out Beneficiaries Get All Instalments
Eligible beneficiaries who had been left out of previous disbursements received all five instalments together, enabling women subsequently found eligible to receive the assistance due to them under the scheme.
Women who had not received any Subhadra instalment until now, along with newly eligible beneficiaries, received Rs 25,000 covering all five instalments in a single transfer.
The latest disbursement amounted to more than Rs 5,160 crore. It also included 2,21,054 women who received financial assistance under the scheme for the first time.

CM Leads Event In Nayagada
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended a mega gathering at Lathipada in Nayagada district, where the fifth instalment was formally disbursed. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and several other members of the state Cabinet also attended the programme.
The funds were digitally transferred to beneficiaries across Odisha at around noon.
As part of the security arrangements for the event, 12 platoons of police personnel were deployed.

Launched on September 17, 2024, the Subhadra Yojana provides eligible women with Rs 10,000 annually in two instalments of Rs 5,000 each -- one around Raksha Bandhan and the other around International Women’s Day.
Under the scheme, each eligible woman is entitled to receive a total of Rs 50,000 over five years. The government aims to promote women’s empowerment, self-reliance and financial inclusion through the programme.
