Bhubaneswar, Sep 5: On the occasion of Teachers’ Day on Friday, Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other dignitaries paid homage to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s former President and a revered philosopher. The day marks his birth anniversary and honours the vital role of educators in shaping the nation.


Governor Kambhampati, in a post on X, wrote, “On the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, I pay respectful tributes to the great philosopher, teacher & statesman. His life and ideals continue to guide us as we celebrate #TeachersDay.”


Chief Minister Majhi emphasized the enduring significance of the 'Guru-Shishya' tradition in Indian culture. “Teachers, in a holistic sense, are the architects of the nation's future,” he stated, extending warm greetings to educators and their families. He praised teachers as the guiding force behind the development of the new generation.

Joining the tributes, Odisha School and Education Department Minister Nityananda Gond highlighted the foundational role of teachers in Indian civilization. “Teachers’ Day is dedicated to our gurus, who have always been the guiding light of our civilisation,” he said. Gond urged society to recognize the indispensable contribution of teachers in nation-building, especially in today’s rapidly evolving educational landscape.


In a parallel initiative, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) organized a special workshop for teachers, focusing on innovative teaching methodologies and capacity-building. The programme aimed to equip educators with modern tools to enhance classroom learning and prepare students for future challenges.


The day was marked by cultural programs, tributes, and educational events across schools and institutions in Odisha, reinforcing the message that teachers remain the cornerstone of progress and enlightenment.
