Bhubaneswar, Apr 18: Odisha will celebrate the sacred festival of Akshaya Tritiya with the traditional Akhi Muthi Anukula ritual, symbolizing the start of the agricultural season.
The state government has announced that the day will be observed as State-Level Farmers’ Day, highlighting the importance of agriculture in Odisha’s economy.
An event will also be held at the Central Rice Research Institute campus in Cuttack, where Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will distribute financial assistance under the CM-Kisan scheme to eligible farmers.
The Deputy Chief Minister, legislators, and other dignitaries are expected to attend the event.
According to official sources, a total of 41,68,582 farmers across Odisha will receive Kharif assistance under the scheme. This initiative is aimed at providing timely financial support to cultivators ahead of the agricultural season, ensuring they have resources to invest in seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs.
In addition to the main program in Cuttack, Ministers will participate in parallel celebrations organised in various districts. These district-level events will include awareness campaigns, felicitation of progressive farmers, and distribution of benefits under different agricultural schemes.
