SIR 2026 / Odisha Electoral Roll 2026 Sees Net Rise of 2.45 Lakh; Total 3.16 Crore Voters

Bhubaneswar, Sept 21: The final electoral roll for Odisha, published after the 2026 Special Intensive Revision (SIR), shows a net increase of 2.45 lakh voters compared to the draft roll released on July 5.

According to the Election Commission, the draft roll had listed 3,13,87,034 voters. Following claims, objections, and verification, the final roll now records 3,16,32,754 voters across the State.

During the SIR exercise, 3,13,87,034 enumeration forms were received, while 20,12,557 forms were not returned. Scrutiny revealed that around 8.08 lakh voters had migrated, more than 8.32 lakh were deceased, 1.58 lakh were duplicate entries, and nearly 1.99 lakh were found absent.

The revision process also involved extensive verification. A total of 58,36,392 notices were issued, and 2,55,996 claims and objections were examined. After hearings, 24,070 voters were declared ineligible and removed from the rolls.

Officials said the exercise was aimed at ensuring accuracy and transparency in the electoral database ahead of the forthcoming polls. The increase in net voters reflects both new registrations and corrections made during the revision.

The Election Commission has emphasized that the updated roll will serve as the foundation for free and fair elections in Odisha. With the final list in place, political parties are expected to intensify their outreach, while administrative machinery will focus on smooth conduct of the electoral process.
