New Delhi, Apr 1: Odisha Divas 2026 was celebrated with grandeur at New Delhi and Odisha, too. TalKatora Stadium in New Delhi, drawing a large gathering of Odia diaspora and dignitaries, witnessed the Divas celebration in a grand way. The event featured vibrant cultural performances, including Odissi and Sambalpuri dance, along with a special presentation by Jitendra Haripal’s team that enthralled the audience.

The program was graced by Speaker Of Odisha Legislative Assembly Surama Padhy  as the chief guest, while Union Minister Juel Oram, MPs Pratap Sarangi, Pradeep Purohit, and Navacharan Majhi attended as honored guests. In his address, Surma Padhi emphasised the responsibility of every Odia to remain connected to their birthplace, regardless of where they reside or work. He urged the community to preserve their cultural identity and contribute to the state’s progress.

MP Pratap Sarangi highlighted the contributions of legendary figures such as Madhusudan Das, Gopabandhu Das, and Fakir Mohan Senapati, while recalling the valour of Kharavela. Union Minister Juel Oram also spoke about Odisha’s rich history and called for collective efforts toward building a developed Odisha. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from Odias living in Delhi.

At the state-level celebration in Satyabhamapur, the birthplace of Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi delivered a powerful speech on Utkal Diwas. He reiterated the government’s commitment to building a prosperous Odisha, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat.

Majhi emphasized that Odia identity and culture are the foundation of the state’s progress. He announced several initiatives, including a record ₹32,000 crore allocation for education, extension of midday meals to Class IX and X students, and the rollout of Ayushman cards to 3.52 crore people within two weeks. He also highlighted women’s empowerment through the Lakshapati Didi scheme, which has transformed over 10 lakh women.

The Chief Minister set ambitious economic targets, envisioning Odisha’s economy reaching $500 billion by 2036 and $1.5 trillion by 2047. He stressed that collective effort and determination would place Odisha among India’s top five states.
