Bhubaneswar, Mar 31: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi directed strict action against rumour-mongering and panic creation in the state in view of the prevailing war-like situation in West Asia, while emphasising the need to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities across the state.

The directives were issued during a review meeting with District Collectors on Monday, focusing on market monitoring and supply chain stability.

Market Monitoring Intensified
District Collectors were asked to conduct regular assessments of market conditions to curb black marketing, illegal hoarding and unjustified price rise.

The Chief Minister stressed firm action against unscrupulous traders and directed officials to adopt a coordinated, team-based approach for effective enforcement. Enforcement squads have been placed on 24-hour alert to prevent disruptions.

Strict Action Against Rumour-Mongering

The state government warned of stringent measures against individuals spreading rumours, especially on social media platforms, which could trigger panic among the public.

Officials were directed to closely monitor online activity and act decisively against those attempting to spread misinformation or false narratives.

Focus On Supply Chain Stability

Crisis management groups have been set up at both state and district levels to oversee coordination and ensure smooth supply of essential commodities.

District Collectors will regularly monitor availability of key items, including petrol, diesel, LPG and fertilisers, to prevent any shortages.

Public Awareness To Prevent Panic
The Chief Minister further called for extensive awareness campaigns to reassure citizens, reiterating that adequate measures are in place to maintain stability and ensure continuous availability of essential goods across Odisha.
