Bhubaneswar, Mar 31: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an Orange Warning for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bhadrak and Balasore districts as a cyclonic circulation remains active over the state, triggering thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hailstorms and gusty winds of up to 40–50 kmph
Thunderstorm Warning Across 16 Districts
A Yellow Warning was sounded for several districts, including Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur, where thunderstorms with lightning and wind speeds of 30–40 kmph are likely at isolated places.

Rainfall To Continue Till April 4
The IMD further forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers in parts of Balasore, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Kandhamal, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Rayagada, while dry weather is expected in the remaining districts.
Heat Persists Despite Rain Activity
Despite the rainfall activity, heat conditions persist in the state, with Titlagarh recording the highest temperature at 40.8°C in the last 24 hours, while Bhadrak’s Akhuapada reported the highest rainfall at 6.6 mm. The weather department has indicated that thunderstorm activity may continue till April 4, alongside a gradual rise in daytime temperatures.
