Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated three new grid substations (Balianta, Satyanagar, SCB Cuttack) and eight transmission lines built at Rs 600 crore, benefiting 22 lakh consumers.
Bhubaneswar, Apr 9: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday inaugurated three new grid substations and eight transmission lines built at a cost of Rs 600 crore, assuring uninterrupted and high-quality power supply for Bhubaneswar and adjoining areas.

He said the projects will benefit nearly 22 lakh consumers.

New Substations At Key Locations
CM Majhi launched the substations at Balianta, Satyanagar and SCB Medical College in Cuttack, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, who also holds the energy portfolio, and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi.

“These projects, which had been stalled for many years due to legal and technical issues, have been successfully completed by our government with firm resolve in just one year. Impossible becomes possible if there is strong willpower,” Majhi said.

Focus On Reliable Power Supply

Addressing a public meeting at Balianta, the Chief Minister said Bhubaneswar and Cuttack will be connected through multiple feeder lines to strengthen power distribution.

He added that ongoing underground cabling will ensure uninterrupted supply even during cyclones and the monsoon season.

OPTCL Completes Major Projects
CM Majhi said the state-run Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited has completed four major power projects within a year.

“Out of these, the Nayapalli Grid has been operational since last year, enabling us to complete four substations in just one year,” he said.

Future Demand And Digital Grid Vision
Highlighting future needs, the Chief Minister said Bhubaneswar’s power demand, currently around 1,000 MW, is expected to double to 2,000 MW by 2030.

He added that the state’s power infrastructure is being restructured in line with the Digital India vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“For the first time, a digital grid substation has been built in Odisha, and there are plans to develop a 765 KV transmission system for the capital,” he said.
