Bhubaneswar, Aug 24: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said compassion, empathy and sensitivity form the core principles of governance in Odisha, while presiding over the 20th state-level grievance hearing at the CM’s Grievance Cell in Bhubaneswar on Monday. Officials said 95 per cent of complaints received at the state-level hearings have been resolved so far.

Joined by ten senior Ministers and top bureaucrats, the Chief Minister heard public grievances directly, underscoring his government’s commitment to responsive administration. Significantly, he sanctioned Rs14.50 lakh in immediate medical assistance for 16 patients suffering from critical ailments under the Single Window System.

Since the inception of the grievance redressal mechanism, 19 hearings have already been conducted, during which 15,327 complaints were received. Of these, 14,519—amounting to 95 percent—have been successfully resolved. At the district level, grievance hearings by Collectors and SPs have also yielded results, with 2,69,394 complaints addressed till July-end, achieving an 87 percent resolution rate. Regular hearings at the tehsil and block levels have further reduced unnecessary hardship for citizens, strengthening public trust in governance.

The Chief Minister emphasised that his government stands by the people during both routine challenges and natural disasters. He recalled that the administration had declared the 2024 heavy rains a natural calamity and extended relief packages, while similar assistance has been provided during the recent floods. “Our government is the people’s government. Wherever there is a problem, we reach out with support,” he said.
