Viksit Odisha / Odisha Cabinet Approves 11 Proposals across Six Departments

Bhubaneswar, Aug 1: The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, held its 45th meeting on Saturday at Lok Seva Bhavan. Following the meeting, Chief Secretary Anu Garg briefed the media on the key decisions taken.

A total of 11 proposals from six departments were discussed and approved. These included one proposal each from the Finance and Law departments, one from the ST & SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare department, one from the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment department, two from the Housing and Urban Development department, and five from the Water Resources department.

The approvals reflect the government’s focus on strengthening infrastructure, welfare, and resource management across the state.

Deadline Extended

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India has extended the deadline for filing claims and objections under the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls 2026.

The new deadline is August 19, 2026, providing more time for eligible citizens to ensure their names are included in the voter list.

An official notification issued by the Home (Elections) Department in the Odisha Gazette confirmed the extension. The revision process, with July 1, 2026 as the qualifying date, aims to maximize voter inclusion and ensure transparency.

The Commission said the extension was made to give citizens adequate time and to make the claims and objections process more inclusive.

Odisha’s Chief Electoral Officer RS Gopalan had requested the extension, which was approved under Rule 12 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. The move is expected to benefit thousands of new voters and those seeking corrections in the electoral rolls.
