Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: Winter conditions intensified across Odisha on Tuesday as temperatures dropped sharply over the past three days, bringing back biting cold to the state capital.
Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum temperature of 11.9 degrees Celsius, down from 15.1degrees Celsius on December 21 and 13.6 degrees Celsiuson December 22, marking a 3.2-degree fall in three days, weather officials said.
Several interior and southern districts recorded much lower night temperatures. Koraput emerged as the coldest at 6.3 degrees Celsius, followed by Daringbadi (7 degrees Celsius), Nabarangpur (8 degrees Celsius), Phulbani (8.5 degrees Celsius), Jharsuguda (9.4 degrees Celsius), Boudh (9.5 degrees Celsius) and Angul (9.6 degrees Celsius).
The Meteorological Department said dry weather is likely to prevail across Odisha over the next two days. It also warned of dense fog during early morning hours at isolated locations in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur and Subarnapur districts.
Additionally, shallow to moderate fog is likely during early hours in parts of Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Jagatsinghpur, Balangir, Koraput, Kendrapara and Subarnapur districts, the department added.
The India Meteorological Department said dry weather is very likely to prevail across Odisha over the next several days. From December 25 to December 27, shallow to moderate fog is likely during early morning hours at isolated places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Jagatsinghpur, Balangir, Koraput, Kendrapara and Subarnapur districts.
The department has also issued a yellow warning for dense fog during early morning hours in isolated pockets of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur and Subarnapur for the same period, advising people to remain alert to reduced visibility conditions.
