Viksit Odisha / Odisha Attracts Rs43,437 Cr Food Processing Investment Proposals at Delhi Roadshow

New Delhi, Aug 7: Odisha has attracted investment proposals worth Rs43,437 crore on the opening day of its Food Pro 2026 roadshow here, positioning itself as a rising hub in India’s food processing sector, officials said on Friday.

The event, organised in association with ASSOCHAM, saw the signing of 27 MoUs and 12 investment intent forms, promising over 43,000 jobs.

Big Ticket Investments

The 27 MoUs accounted for Rs41,748 crore with an employment potential of 35,252 jobs, while 12 intent forms added another Rs1,689 crore and 8,064 jobs. The proposals span agro-processing, marine products, cold-chain infrastructure, warehousing, and food clusters, reflecting Odisha’s ambition to integrate farmers and rural enterprises with industrial growth.

Leadership Presence

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi led the delegation, accompanied by Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, and senior officials. Addressing over 300 industry leaders, entrepreneurs and investors, CM Majhi emphasised that food processing is “the bridge between farmers’ prosperity, rural transformation and Odisha’s industrial future.”

Strategic Roadmap

The state government outlined plans to:

• Develop specialised food clusters.
• Expand cold-chain and warehousing facilities.
• Strengthen food quality and certification systems.
• Integrate FPOs, MSMEs and women SHGs with organised industry.
• Build a globally competitive skilled workforce.

Rural Transformation Focus

Officials stressed that processing agricultural and marine products within Odisha will boost farmer incomes, create sustainable employment, and reduce wastage. The initiative also aims to empower women entrepreneurs and self-help groups by linking them to larger industrial networks.

With the first day yielding significant commitments, Odisha’s Food Pro 2026 roadshow has set the tone for positioning the state as a national leader in food processing investments.
