Odisha Assembly Session 2026 / Odisha Assembly Monsoon Session To Commence on September 22

Bhubaneswar, Aug 25: The Seventh Session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly will commence on September 22 and continue till October 3, according to a provisional calendar of sittings released by the Assembly Secretariat on Tuesday.

According to the provisional schedule, the Monsoon Session will have nine business days, with one holiday and two ‘No Meeting Days’ during the period.

Proceedings will begin on September 22, followed by official business on September 23 and 24. September 25 has been earmarked for Private Members’ Business, including Bills and Resolutions.

The House will remain closed on September 26 and 27, before resuming on September 28. Official business will be conducted on September 28, 29, 30 and October 1. Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 will be observed as a holiday, with the session concluding on October 3.

Meanwhile, Odisha Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling has rejected opposition demands for convening a special session to discuss the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, recently passed by Parliament.

Mahaling clarified that the matter could be taken up during the upcoming Monsoon Session, making a separate sitting unnecessary.

The demand for a special session was raised by Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik and Congress Legislature Party leader Ram Chandra Kadam.
