Berhampur, Nov 28: The family of Saudagar Behera, Additional Tehsildar of Asika, has lodged a complaint with Chatrapur police alleging that they have been socially boycotted by members of their community.
According to the complaint filed by Behera’s father, Bijay Behera, the family -- residents of Munisipentha village under Chatrapur police limits -- was ostracised after the officer married a woman from another caste. He alleged that members of the Kaibarta community announced a social boycott, refusing to recognise or interact with the family.
Members of the Kaibarta community, however, denied the allegations and told police that no such boycott was imposed. Police summoned both sides to the station for a discussion, but after prolonged talks, no resolution could be reached.
Chatrapur police said the matter will be taken up again in the presence of office-bearers of the Kaibarta Mahasabha to facilitate further discussion and mediation.

No formal case has been registered so far, Chatrapur Model Police Station's IIC Sabyasachi Malla informed.
