Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: A crude bomb explosion near the primary section gate of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 3 in the Gadakana area sparked panic in the state capital on Friday morning, prompting the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to launch a high-level probe. A three-member NIA team visited the spot and completed an initial assessment, a source said.

The incident took place around 8am when unidentified bike-borne miscreants allegedly hurled crude bombs near Gate No. 3 of the school. While no injuries were reported, the blast damaged the school gate and a portion of the boundary wall. Police later recovered fragments of explosives and sharp iron shrapnel from the site.

Mancheswar Police and the Railway Police Force (RPF) immediately rushed to the spot. A scientific team is analysing samples and CCTV footage from the area to identify the perpetrators and verify the nature of the explosive material.

Locals believe the attack may have been pre-planned, prompting investigators to explore possible larger links. Police are examining various angles, including mischief by local miscreants or an attempt to create panic near a school.
