Bhubaneswar, Sep 16: In a major step toward regional economic transformation, NITI Aayog presented its Growth-Hub strategy for the Bhubaneswar–Cuttack–Puri–Paradip Economic Region (BCPPER) in Odisha during a high-level stakeholder consultation held at the State Convention Centre here on Tuesday.

The event witnessed active participation from senior government officials, industry leaders, urban planners, and policy experts. Anna Roy, Senior Economic Advisor at NITI Aayog, delivered the keynote presentation, positioning the BCPPER as a pivotal growth engine capable of contributing USD 500 billion to India’s economy by 2047. This vision aligns with Odisha’s broader ambition to evolve into a USD 1.5-trillion economy.

The Growth-Hub strategy emphasizes integrated development across the four urban centers, leveraging their unique strengths in industry, tourism, logistics, and innovation. The consultation served as a platform to gather stakeholder inputs on key areas such as sustainable infrastructure, housing, inclusive growth, and regional connectivity.

Roy highlighted the strategic importance of the coastal corridor, noting its potential to attract global investments, foster innovation ecosystems, and enhance quality of life through planned urban expansion. The roadmap also aims to align with national priorities like green energy, digital infrastructure, and employment generation.

The feedback collected during the consultation will inform the finalization of the BCPPER roadmap, which is expected to serve as a model for regional economic planning across India. With strong institutional support and multi-sectoral collaboration, Odisha’s coastal belt is poised to become a beacon of balanced and resilient growth.
