Bhubaneswar, Sep 11: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday thanked Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for approving the ambitious Rs240-crore Mahanadi Riverfront Development Scheme, a project aimed at transforming key stretches of the river into cultural and spiritual tourism hubs.
The initiative, backed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, is seen as a major step toward realizing the vision of a “Developed Odisha” and “Developed India”, Pradhan said.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership has led to the approval of the much-aspired ‘Mahanadi Riverfront Development’ scheme in Odisha, for which I express my gratitude to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. With Rs240 crore allocated, this initiative will beautify key riverbank locations and transform them into major cultural and spiritual tourism centers,” the Union Minister posted on X.

Riverfront Beautification Across Key Locations
The scheme will cover the development of the Mahanadi riverbank from Mandalia to Chaunpur in Sambalpur district. Additionally, beautification efforts will extend to Kuakhai and Kushabhadra riverbanks near Bhubaneswar’s Pandara area.
