NEP 2020 in Focus at Odisha’s Higher Education Workshop

Bhubaneswar, Nov 1: A five-day Capacity Building and Leadership Development Workshop was jointly organized by the Department of Higher Education, Odisha State Higher Education Council, and Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar.

 

The workshop, which had commenced on October 27, aimed to enhance the leadership and administrative skills of principals and senior faculty members from government colleges across Odisha.

 

On the concluding day of the workshop, Odisha Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj graced the event and addressed the participants. The first phase of the workshop witnessed active participation from principals and senior professors representing 36 colleges across 26 districts.

During his address, the Minister Suraj emphasized the importance of implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in its entirety. He highlighted the need for innovation in teaching practices and the integration of technology, including machine learning, into mainstream education. Discussions also covered the functioning of Internal Committees and the implementation of the POCSO Act in colleges.


 

The workshop provided a platform for mutual dialogue between policymakers and educators. UGC guidelines and their practical implications were thoroughly discussed. Participants expressed that the workshop significantly boosted their confidence and equipped them with tools to lead their institutions more effectively.

 

The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening higher education through strategic leadership and capacity building. It also marks a step forward in aligning Odisha’s educational institutions with national standards and technological advancements.
