National Dental Commission warns dentists against false ads and unethical publicity. Violators risk cancellation of registration.
Bhubaneswar, Oct 19: The National Dental Commission (NDC) has issued a strict advisory warning registered dentists across the country against unethical promotions, misleading advertisements, and deceptive content on social media platforms.
According to the advisory, dentists found engaging in false publicity or posting misleading videos will first receive a “show cause” notice. If violations persist, their medical registration may be cancelled.
The commission noted that several practitioners have been indulging in self‑promotional campaigns and exaggerated claims about treatments, which mislead the public and undermine professional ethics.

✨The NDC stressed that all registered dentists must adhere to the Dentist Code of Ethics and Regulations, which prohibits attractive advertisements, patient solicitation, and any activity that compromises professional integrity.
Dentists are expected to maintain dignity in practice, safeguard patient privacy, and uphold the honour of the profession.
“Misleading advertisements and unethical publicity will not be tolerated. Dentists must strictly comply with prescribed norms, failing which immediate disciplinary action will be taken,” the commission stated.
The advisory further emphasized that dentists should respect
patient confidentiality and avoid any form of commercial exploitation. The
board highlighted that the directive carries legal authority and is effective
immediately.
