Sambalpur, Jan 11: A disturbing incident has come to light from Mirgamunda Rasanpur village under Sadar police limits, where a minor girl was shot with an air gun by a youth.


According to reports, the girl sustained serious injuries after the incident and was immediately rushed to Burla Medical College and Hospital for primary treatment.


Later, she was shifted to Cuttack for advanced medical care.


Police officials confirmed that the motive behind the firing remains unclear. Investigators are probing the circumstances under which the youth opened fire and are questioning locals to gather more details.


Authorities are also examining whether negligence or deliberate intent was involved in the act.


The incident has sparked widespread concern among residents of the area, who expressed alarm over the misuse of air guns and the growing risks to children in rural communities.
