Crime in Odisha / Man Hides Mother’s Body Under Kitchen Slab in Puri!

Puri, Aug 24: Shock and chaos gripped Puri town in Odisha on Monday after a house owner suspected that her tenant had killed his mother and concealed the body under a kitchen slab. Police said foul odour and seepage from the spot prompted immediate investigation.

According to house owner Manoroma Sahu, a mother and son had rented her property at Kumharpada locality in the town two months ago. While the son has been absconding since Sunday, the mother has not been seen for several days. Suspicion grew after a foul smell began emanating from the kitchen area of the rented house.

On closer inspection, the house owner suspected that the kitchen slab had been plastered to conceal something. She alerted local police, who during preliminary checks noticed foul odour and seepage of wastewater, raising fears that a decomposed body may have been buried underneath.

The incident triggered panic in the locality, with residents gathering at the spot and creating chaos. Police cordoned off the house and initiated investigation. Forensic teams are expected to be deployed to confirm whether human remains are concealed under the slab.

Police said further confirmation would only be possible after excavation and forensic examination. The tenant’s sudden disappearance has added to the suspicion, and police have launched a search to trace him.
