Phulbani, Oct 7: A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his elder brother over a dispute concerning land and the proceeds from its sale in Phulbani Town Model Police Station area of Kandhamal district, a source said on Wednesday.
The deceased, identified as Ashok Sahoo, was found dead inside a rented house at Pragati Marg under Phulbani Town Model Police Station limits on the evening of October 2.
Body Recovered From Rented House
Police recovered Ashok's decomposed body from the rented house and initially registered an unnatural death case based on the circumstances at the spot. The body was sent to the Kandhamal District Headquarters Hospital in Phulbani for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, Ashok's family members alleged that his younger brother, Arun Kumar Sahoo, had killed him over a land-related dispute.

Dispute Over Land Sale Proceeds
During questioning, Arun allegedly confessed to killing his elder brother over money from the sale of a plot of land at Dhipasahi village, the source said.
According to the police account, Arun went to Ashok's house on the night of September 26 while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. He asked his elder brother for money from the sale of the land, following which an argument broke out between the two.
Arun allegedly attacked Ashok on the head with a wooden stick, causing his death on the spot, police said.
After the incident, Arun allegedly locked the door from outside and fled the spot.
