Koraput, Oct 23: Restoration work at three landslide-hit locations in the Maliguda section of the Koraput-Kirandul railway line has been completed, enabling the East Coast Railway (ECoR) to resume freight train operations at restricted speeds, officials said on Friday.
Rail traffic on the strategically important route had remained suspended since September 24 following landslides that damaged railway tracks and supporting infrastructure in the region.

Safety Check Before Passenger Operations
Passenger train services, however, will resume only after comprehensive safety inspections of the track and related infrastructure are completed. Railway officials said further decisions regarding the restoration of full-fledged train operations would be taken based on the outcome of these safety assessments.
The East Coast Railway is closely monitoring the situation to ensure safe movement of trains on the route.
The completion of repair work is expected to bring relief to industries dependent on rail transport while paving the way for the gradual restoration of normal services on the Koraput-Kirandul section.
