Koraput, Jan 24: The Koraput district administration in Odisha has issued an order prohibiting the sale of meat, fish, poultry, eggs and liquor on January 26, as part of the 77th Republic Day celebrations, officials said on Saturday.
District Collector Manoj Satyawan Mahajan directed all Tehsildars
and Block Development Officers (BDOs) to ensure strict enforcement of the ban
across the district’s 14 blocks. In a letter circulated to the concerned officials,
the Collector instructed them to notify shopkeepers and vendors in advance and
to carry out awareness drives to prevent violations.
The order, issued as a government notification, seeks to
maintain decorum during the national event and ensures that the celebrations
are conducted in a dignified manner. Officials have been asked to remain
vigilant and take precautionary measures to avoid any breach of the directive.

The ban covers all forms of non-vegetarian food items,
including meat, chicken, fish and eggs, along with alcoholic beverages. The
administration has emphasised that the restrictions are temporary and apply
only for the day of the Republic Day observance.

Officials said the move is in line with similar measures
taken in previous years to uphold the sanctity of national occasions. The

Republic Day across Koraput district.
