Jharsuguda, Feb 22: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident in Jharsuguda that claimed the lives of five police personnel and left three others critically injured.
In his condolence message, Pradhan offered prayers for the departed souls and wished a speedy recovery for those battling injuries.
The accident occurred when a speeding trailer collided head-on with a police Bolero vehicle near Jharsuguda Sadar Police Station during night patrolling.
The impact was so severe that the Bolero was completely mangled, killing five officers instantly.
The deceased were identified as Kashiram Bhoi (APR), Niranjan Kujur (Drill Sub-Inspector), Debadatta Sahu (APR), Lingaraj Dhurua (APR Havildar), and Bhaktabandhu Mirdha (Home Guard). Three others—Dubraj Mirig, Akash Naik, and Rajeev Bhrasagar sustained critical injuries and were rushed to the district headquarters hospital.
