Jajpur, Oct 6: In a tragic incident a 59-year-old woman was
dragged into the Kharsrota river in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Monday, police
said.

Incident Details
As per reports, the victim, identified as Saudamini Mahala (59), wife of Shukadeva Mahala from Kantia village under the Binjhapur police limits, had gone to the river to attend the nature’s call at around 4 PM.
A crocodile suddenly emerged from the water and pulled her inside the river. Despite immediate alarm raised by the locals, the reptile disappeared into the depths with the woman, sources said.

Search and Rescue
After getting information, local police and forest officials rushed to the spot and launched a search operation to locate the missing woman. Rescue teams are combing the riverbanks and nearby areas, but as of now, Saudamini remains untraced.
The incident has triggered panic among the villagers, highlighting the growing threat of wildlife near riverbanks.
Meanwhile, the authorities have urged residents to avoid venturing near the river.
