Jagatsinghpur, Oct 2: In a tragic incident, a decorative light gate erected for Durga Puja at Balikuda's Badabazar collapsed due to strong winds and heavy rainfall.

According to reports, the structure fell directly onto passersby, leaving five persons injured.

The injured were immediately rescued and rushed to Balikuda Medical Center for treatment.

Local authorities have initiated an inquiry into the safety measures taken during the installation of the gate.

Earlier on Wednesday, three persons sustained injuries after a portion of the ceiling at a Durga Puja mandap collapsed in the Rajabagicha area of Cuttack due to strong winds and heavy rainfall.
