Jagatsinghpur, Sep 15: A commerce lecturer at Balikuda College in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur was on Monday dismissed for securing his job using a fake postgraduate certificate.
The dismissal order was issued by the Sub-Collector of Jagatsinghpur.
Santosh Satapathy had been serving in the college since 2018, allegedly using a forged M.Com certificate from a non-recognised university in Sikkim.
According to reports, the fraud came to light following a formal complaint submitted to the Higher Education Minister, prompting an investigation led by the RDC (Revenue Divisional Commissioner).
In 2022, a fact-finding committee was constituted to verify the authenticity of Satapathy’s academic credentials.

✨The investigation confirmed that the certificate was issued by a fake university, rendering his appointment invalid.
Notably, on September 6, Satapathy was officially terminated from service.
Authorities have also ordered the recovery of seven years’ salary drawn fraudulently during his tenure.
