Malkangiri, Sep 15: A pregnant woman from Chepulpada village in Khairaput block of Malkangiri district was carried on cot for nearly 15 kilometers due to the absence of motorable road.

According to reports, the woman, identified as Samari Majhi, wife of local resident Ram Majhi, began experiencing intense labour pain. Following this, the victim's family contacted the ambulance service, but due to severely damaged and inaccessible roads, the vehicle could not reach the village.

With no other option, and with the help of an ASHA worker, the family carried Samari on cot through rugged terrain for approximately 15 kilometers. After reaching Rauliguda, they were finally able to transfer her into the waiting ambulance, which then took her to the Khairaput Community Health Centre.
