Cuttack, Dec 4: The highly anticipated T20 cricket match between India and South Africa is set to take place at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on December 9. In view of this major sporting event, the Commissionerate Police made extensive security arrangements to ensure the safety of players, VIPs, and spectators, as well as to manage smooth traffic flow around the venue, police said on Thursday.
Robust Security Deployment
A large contingent of police personnel will be deployed, including 9 Additional SPs, 40 DSPs, 65 Inspectors, 325 SIs, 38 Havildars/Constables, 208 APR Constables, 73 women constables, 1 ODRAF unit, 2 STU units, and 70 platoons of police force. These teams will oversee stadium security, traffic regulation, and crowd management. These personnel will be strategically positioned to monitor the stadium premises and key traffic points to ensure effective crowd management and security operations.
Pre-Match Preparations
On December 7, both the Indian and South African cricket
teams are scheduled to arrive in Bhubaneswar. They will practice at Barabati
Stadium on December 8, before the match day. Security will be tightened at the
airport, hotels, stadium, and along the transit routes between Bhubaneswar and
Cuttack to ensure seamless movement of players.

Crowd and Ticket Management
The ticket sale process commences on December 5 at 10 AM. Given the huge enthusiasm among cricket fans eager to witness Indian players live, large crowds are expected near the ticket sales centers. To prevent chaos and ensure orderly ticket distribution, police reinforcements have been arranged for tight crowd control and smooth handling of sales.
Police Coordination Meeting
A meeting chaired by Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Khelar Rishikesh Dyandeo was held at the Barabati Stadium premises. During the briefing, police officials received instructions to work in a coordinated manner to successfully organize the cricket match as a safe and enjoyable event for all.
Meanwhile, Odisha Police appealed to spectators to cooperate with
authorities and enjoy the match in a disciplined manner. With thousands of fans
expected to gather, police remain vigilant to prevent any untoward incidents.
