Bhubaneswar, Apr 4: Amid scorching heat conditions across Odisha, the Regional Centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar on Saturday issued a fresh alert predicting thunderstorms with lightning and rain in 19 districts within the next 24 hours, offering much-needed relief from rising temperatures.
Temperature Soars Across State
Odisha continues to reel under intense heat, with temperatures crossing the 40°C mark in at least nine major locations over the past 24 hours. Coastal regions too recorded high temperatures between 38°C and 39°C, making daytime conditions uncomfortable and disrupting normal life.
On Saturday, people across the state experienced sweltering heat and humidity, with the mercury remaining significantly high.
No Large change in maximum temperature during the next 24 hours is expected.
A gradual fall by 2-3°C is expected during the subsequent two days and no large change thereafter over the districts of Odisha.
Weather experts said that the thunderstorms and rainfall may lead to a slight drop in temperature, providing respite to residents battling extreme heat.

A Yellow Warning has been issued for 19 districts, where thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds, and rainfall are likely over the next 24 hours.
The department further warned of strong surface winds at isolated places, which may cause temporary disruptions.
Wider Impact Expected Across Odisha
The weather agency stated that similar conditions are likely to prevail across northern, coastal, interior, and southern Odisha in the coming days.
Notably, April 5 is expected to witness the most intense impact of Kalbaisakhi, with thunderstorms likely to affect most parts of the state.
