Humane Sagar’s wife Shreya calls for a thorough and unbiased probe into his “suspicious” death.
Titilagarh, Dec 7: In the aftermath of noted Odia singer Humane Sagar’s death, his wife Shreya Mishra has finally spoken out, urging authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation.
Calling the circumstances “deeply suspicious,” she said it is essential that the truth comes to light and the mystery surrounding the incident is fully unravelled.
Shreya maintained that only a proper probe can establish what really happened and bring clarity to the questions that continue to trouble the family.
Her statement comes at a time when trouble has already deepened for late singer Humane Sagar’s manager, Dinesh Behera. On November 29, the State Human Rights Council lodged a complaint against him at Cuttack Mahila Police Station after a video surfaced showing him allegedly abusing and intimidating Sagar’s mother. The council has sought strict action, stating that the remarks amounted to humiliation of a woman.
This development follows another FIR registered days earlier at Balangir Town Police Station against Dinesh and fellow manager Prashant Behera, after widespread public demand for a deeper probe into Sagar’s death.
Humane Sagar, 36, passed away on November 17 at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. He had been battling alcohol-related liver cirrhosis, along with pneumonia and dilated cardiomyopathy.
On November 23, treating physician Dr Sanjib Kumar Kar revealed that he had repeatedly advised Sagar to take medication seriously and avoid performances. “I told him clearly that losing him would be painful for me. Yet he continued public programmes,” Dr Kar said.

According to Dr Kar, Sagar ultimately died due to a combination of pneumonia, dilated cardiomyopathy and renal failure, with chronic liver disease as the underlying factor.
