Balipatna, Jan 30: In a tragic incident at Aitalang village under Balipatna police limits on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, a five-year-old boy sustained severe burn injuries after hot water accidentally spilled over him.
According to reports, the child, son of one Montu Bhoi, was playing inside the house when the accident occurred. The incident occurred when the victim's mother was preparing rice and gruel, and while carrying the vessel, the boy suddenly ran into her.
In the commotion, the vessel slipped from her hands, causing the boiling gruel to spill directly onto the child.
Following the incident, the boy suffered burns on his back, shoulders, stomach, and hands.
Family members immediately rushed him to the Balipatna Community Health Centre. However, due to the seriousness of his condition, he was later shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment.

Doctors attending the child confirmed that nearly 40 percent of his body has been burnt. His condition remains critical, and he is under intensive medical care.
