Kendrapara, May 15: A youth was allegedly beaten to death over a land dispute at Baradang village under Mahakalapara police station limits in Odisha's Kendrapara district, a source said Friday.
The deceased was identified as Golak Chandra Nauri, who was reportedly working as a homoeopathy doctor.
According to the source, a heated argument broke out late on Thursday night between Golak and his elder brother Abhay over a long-standing land dispute. As the confrontation escalated, Abhay and several of his family members allegedly launched a group assault on Golak.
Family members alleged that the accused continued attacking Golak even after he collapsed unconscious on the ground.
Golak was initially rushed to the Mahakalapara Community Health Centre in a critical condition and later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Kendrapara. However, doctors there declared him dead.
Police detained four persons, including the prime accused Abhay Nauri, in connection with the incident. Further investigation is underway.

Speaking about the incident, the deceased’s brother Narayan Nauri alleged that Golak had hired three tractors for land-filling work for the construction of his house. Since the area was muddy and swampy, the tractors got stuck.
“To clear the passage, Golak had asked our elder brother Abhay Nauri to shift the asbestos roof of a toilet that had allegedly been built on Golak’s land,” Narayan said.
“However, when Golak requested him to relocate the structure, Abhay refused and allegedly threatened him. When Golak and I protested, Abhay called his son Jitendra, his daughter, son-in-law and wife to the spot. All of them brutally assaulted both of us. Abhay’s son repeatedly attacked Golak on the chest,” he alleged.
It can be mentioned here that Golak is survived by his wife and a minor daughter.
