A headmaster of a Sevashram School in Nabarangpur has been accused of misconduct with a Class-7 girl student on April 15 night under Tentulikhunti police station limits.
Nabarangpur, Apr 25: A headmaster of a Sevashram School in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district has been accused of misconduct with a Class-7 girl student, with the victim and her family filing a formal complaint with the police, a source said Saturday.

According to the complaint, the incident took place on April 15 night under the jurisdiction of Tentulikhunti police station limits. The victim alleged that while five girls had gone to drink ORS at the school, headmaster Sukanta Sarangi allegedly singled her out, pulled her by the hand, took her inside a room and touched her inappropriately.

The victim’s family further alleged that despite approaching the District Social Welfare Officer earlier, no legal action was taken and the accused was merely transferred. They claimed they were compelled to approach the police seeking justice.

The FIR was lodged at Nabarangpur police station in the presence of BJD leader Pradeep Majhi, with the complaint submitted to SDPO Krushna Chandra Bhatra. The family has demanded strict legal action against the accused.

Responding to the development, SDPO Bhatra said appropriate action would be taken as per law following the complaint.

Meanwhile, Pradeep Majhi demanded the resignation of Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond over the incident.

Minister Gond, on the other hand, stated that action would be initiated against all those found involved, while alleging that the resignation demand by Majhi was politically motivated.
