Sambalpur, Apr 23: A mentally disabled 14-year-old girl in Odisha who is also deaf and mute was allegedly raped by her paternal uncle and gave birth to a baby girl, a source said after DNA testing identified the suspect.
The survivor, a resident of the Govindpur police station area in Sambalpur district, could not communicate details of the assault due to her disabilities, the source added.
The case came to light after the girl's mother filed a written complaint with Govindpur police, who registered a case and began an investigation, the source informed.
Police collected blood samples from seven individuals, including the survivor's father and her paternal uncle, and sent them for DNA testing. The test report identified the uncle as the perpetrator.
The accused was arrested on Tuesday. He was produced at a local hospital for a medical examination and later remanded to the Special POCSO Court in Sambalpur, the source confirmed.

Police did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The survivor has given birth to a baby girl, the source said, without specifying when the delivery occurred.
