Odisha Police / He Was Left Bleeding Near Railway Tracks in Bhubaneswar... One Call Saved His Life

Bhubaneswar, Aug 7: A prompt response by Odisha Police's 112 emergency helpline helped save the life of a youth from Dhenkanal after he was found critically injured near railway tracks in Bhubaneswar.

According to police, the injured man, identified as Rakesh Pradhan from Dhenkanal, called the 112 emergency helpline after allegedly being pushed from a moving train. Despite his injuries, he managed to alert the control room, although he was unable to clearly identify his exact location.

Police said the incident took place somewhere between Vani Vihar and Mancheswar railway stations. PCR-7 was immediately dispatched to the area, but the team initially failed to locate the victim as it was dark and raining.

Victim Located After Two-Kilometre Search
The police personnel continued searching along the railway track for nearly two kilometres before locating Rakesh in an injured condition near the Kalikhama bridge.

He was rescued and first taken to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. Considering the seriousness of his injuries, he was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Kataka for advanced treatment.

Police said the timely intervention by the 112 emergency response team played a crucial role in saving the youth's life.

Police Commissioner Commends PCR Team
In recognition of their prompt action, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh met the PCR-7 team, including the constable, home guard and driver, and commended them for their swift response and dedication to duty.

Police have not yet disclosed further details regarding the circumstances under which the youth allegedly fell from the moving train. An investigation is underway.
