Salary Hike / Govt Tables Amendment Bill In Assembly To Revise Legislators’ Salaries

Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: An amended bill concerning the salary, allowances and pension of sitting and former legislators was tabled in the Odisha Assembly on Tuesday.
The bill was introduced by the Parliamentary Affairs Minister.

✨- In the event of the death of a legislator, their family will be provided a financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh.
- Salaries, allowances and pensions of legislators and former legislators will be revised every five years.
- The bill also provides that such revisions can be carried
out directly through ordinance, without necessarily bringing a fresh bill
before the Assembly.

The move is aimed at streamlining the benefits and support system for legislators and their families, while ensuring periodic adjustments to compensation in line with changing times.
