Mumbai, Oct 22: Bollywood superstar Govinda ushered in Vijayadashami with a spiritual pause at Puri’s Shree Jagannath Temple, where he bowed in devotion, offered prayers, and sought divine blessings for his children and family.

“Today, God blessed me that I was able to pray and worship here. I thank the people of this land, the community associated with it and the artists here. May God bless our kids also the way he has blessed us. Har Har Mahadev,” Govinda told reporters.

The actor extended his wishes to the local community and fellow artistes, underscoring the significance of the occasion. His temple visit, however, comes at a time when his personal life has been under intense public scrutiny.

Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja, married since 1987, have faced months of speculation over marital discord and allegations of an extramarital relationship involving Govinda and his Roopa co‑star Komal Rani Swarnkar.

Sunita has openly voiced her concerns about Govinda’s closeness with the actress, questioning their frequent appearances together and highlighting the age gap. In one sharp remark, she referred to Govinda as Komal’s “sugar daddy.”

Govinda later responded through a video message, urging Sunita to “stay within limits” and claiming her comments were damaging his reputation and the prospects of his comeback film.

He defended his choice of younger co‑stars, noting that actors across generations have long collaborated in cinema.

The controversy deepened when reports surfaced that Sunita had filed for divorce in December 2024, citing adultery, cruelty, and desertion. However, in August 2026, Govinda’s manager confirmed that she had withdrawn the petition.
