Odisha News / Former Kendrapara Health Supervisor Gets 4-Year Jail Term For Bribery

Cuttack, Jun 29: In a major anti-corruption development, Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of Rasabihari Mohanty, a former Multi-Purpose Health Supervisor (Male) and in-charge of the Vital Statistics Section at UGPHC, Patkura in Kendrapada district, in a bribery case, officials said on Monday.
The Special Vigilance Judge, Cuttack today convicted Mohanty, who had retired from service, under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant to issue her deceased father’s death certificate while serving as the Health Supervisor.
The court sentenced Mohanty to undergo rigorous imprisonment
for four years along with a fine. Following the judgment, he was immediately
taken into custody to serve his sentence.

✨Meanwhile, the Vigilance department said that it will move the competent authority to stop Mohanty’s pension benefits considering his conviction. The case underscores the state’s continuing efforts to combat corruption and ensure accountability among public servants.
This conviction adds to the growing list of successful prosecutions by Odisha Vigilance, reinforcing its commitment to uphold transparency and integrity in public administration.
