Bhubaneswar, Sep 16: A violent bomb clash between two brothers late Tuesday night has left one dead and another critically injured, sending shockwaves through Angarapada village under Chandaka police limits in Khordha district.

According to reports, Mohan Padhy and his younger brother Madan Padhy engaged in a heated quarrel earlier in the evening.

Though family members and villagers intervened to pacify them, the dispute flared up again at midnight. In a shocking escalation, both brothers hurled bombs at each other.

The blasts killed elder brother Mohan instantly, while Madan sustained grievous injuries, including the loss of his hand. He was first rushed to Capital Hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College in Cuttack, where he remains in critical condition.

The incident triggered panic in the locality, with two consecutive explosions shaking the village. Police teams from Chandaka station, along with PCR units, reached the spot immediately.

Later, Zone‑6 ACP, a scientific team, and Bhubaneswar DCP inspected the crime scene and began investigations.

Villagers said the brothers had a long‑standing feud that reignited on Tuesday evening. “They fought earlier in the day, but we thought it was settled. At night, they clashed again and bombs were thrown,” a local resident recounted.

Meanwhile, Bhadrak district also witnessed a gruesome murder the same day. At Jena Sahi under Raandia panchayat, miscreants armed with sharp weapons and glass bottles attacked poultry shop owner Laxmidhar Jena and his son Parshuram.

Laxmidhar died on the spot, while Parshuram was critically injured and shifted to Kataka.
