Bhubaneswar, Oct 14: The Bhubaneswar Excise Department has once again uncovered another illegal country liquor distillation unit hidden inside a secret chamber.

According to reports, the matter came to light after a raid, based on credible inputs, was conducted in the Salia Sahi Bira Basha slum. During the raid, officials discovered a fully operational desi liquor manufacturing setup concealed within a hidden compartment.

This is not the first such incident in the area. Earlier, the Excise Department had raided another illicit mahuli liquor unit operating from inside a bedroom in the same locality. A driver employed with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) was arrested for his alleged involvement in the illegal trade.

Authorities have intensified surveillance in the region, which has become a hotspot for clandestine liquor operations.

Further investigation is underway to identify other individuals involved in the racket.
