Bhubaneswar, Dec 5: The Odia Literary Trail under Ekamra Walks, an initiative of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), is scheduled every  Sunday till February 2026, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The trail invites citizens, students, and culture enthusiasts to explore Odisha’s literary and linguistic legacy through a rich line-up of performances and expert sessions, officials said on Friday.

 

Folk Performance Highlight

This weekend’s centrepiece will be the traditional “Sabar Sabaruni Nata”, performed by a folk troupe from Boudh district. Rooted in indigenous rituals and oral traditions, the act provides a rare glimpse into Odisha’s tribal heritage, showcasing the vibrancy of community-based art forms.

 

Storytelling Session

Adding to the cultural tapestry, a professional storyteller will enact ‘Nila Mastarani’, a timeless tale penned by Pandit Godabarisha Mohapatra. The performance aims to bring Odia literature and folklore alive, blending narrative artistry with audience participation.

The trail will also feature a special lecture by Dr. Debasish Mahapatra on “The Chronological Development of Odia Script and Language.” His session will trace the historical evolution of the Odia language, highlighting its continuity and cultural depth across centuries.

 

Cultural Collaboration

Officials from the Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department, partnering with the programme, emphasized that combining folk art, storytelling, and scholarly discourse strengthens cultural understanding and fosters community participation.
