Argus News - Ekamra Walks Launches Odia Literary and Film Trails in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Nov 22: Ekamra Walks, the flagship cultural initiative of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), is set to expand its offerings with two innovative experiential trails—the Odia Literary Trail and Culture, Crafts & Conversations: Odia Film Panorama, officials said on Saturday.

Beginning November 23, 2025, these trails will be hosted at Kala Bhoomi, the Odisha Crafts Museum, promising visitors a deeper connection with Odisha’s rich heritage.

Odia Literary Trail

The Odia Literary Trail will immerse participants in the evolution of the Odia language, tracing its journey from ancient scripts to its recognition as a classical language. The trail blends literature, performing arts, folk traditions, and storytelling to create a vibrant cultural experience. Visitors can enjoy folk dance performances, Odissi recitals inspired by classical texts, and interactive storytelling sessions that merge traditional and modern styles.

The trail also highlights oral traditions, local dialects, and cultural influences that shaped Odia literature. Eminent literary personalities will engage with participants, making the experience especially enriching for students, families, and culture enthusiasts.

Odia Film Panorama

The second trail, Culture, Crafts & Conversations: Odia Film Panorama, celebrates the legacy of Odia cinema. Every Sunday evening, Kala Bhoomi’s Open Air Theatre will transform into a lively movie night venue, screening landmark Odia films. Expert-led introductions will provide insights into film history, notable directors, and cinematic milestones.

The screenings will be accompanied by conversations with film enthusiasts and cultural practitioners, creating a community atmosphere. Visitors can also enjoy Odia-style refreshments, evoking the nostalgic charm of rural movie gatherings. This weekly event is designed to offer families and film lovers a meaningful blend of cinema, crafts, and heritage.
