Rath Yatra 2026 / ECoR To Run Special Trains To Puri For Suna Besha, Adharapana Rituals

Bhubaneswar, Jul 24: To ensure smooth travel for lakhs of devotees during the world‑famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced the operation of multiple special trains to and from Puri for the Suna Besha and Adharapana rituals, officials said on Friday.

In addition to regular services, special trains will run from Paradip, Angul, Bhadrak, Talcher, Kendrapara Road, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Brahmapur, Keonjhar, Khurda Road and Daspalla towards Puri during the Suna Besha. Return services will connect Puri with Talcher, Badampahad, Dhenkanal, Bangiriposi, Rayagada, Bhadrak, Angul, Gunupur, Rourkela, Daspalla, Sambalpur, Palasa, Visakhapatnam and Shalimar.

For Adharapana, additional trains will operate from Brahmapur, Daspalla, Angul, Keonjhar, Paradip, Bhadrak and Khurda Road to Puri. Outbound services will link Puri with Talcher, Dhenkanal, Bangiriposi, Bhadrak, Angul, Daspalla, Khurda Road, Brahmapur, Keonjhar and Paradip.

Railway officials said the arrangements aim to provide comfortable and hassle‑free travel for pilgrims and manage the heavy influx of passengers during the festival. A 24×7 control room has been set up to monitor train operations and address passenger concerns.

Additional facilities include mobile ticket counters, enquiry centres, continuous public announcements, crowd management systems, video wall displays, UTS mobile ticketing, separate waiting areas for pilgrims, enhanced security, food and water services, ambulance support, uninterrupted electricity and sanitation facilities.

The Ministry of Railways and ECoR emphasised that these measures reflect their commitment to ensuring safe, secure and convenient travel for all devotees attending the Rath Yatra festivities.
