Puri, Oct 13: A drone was spotted flying in the restricted zone of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri early Tuesday morning, raising fresh concerns over security around the shrine.

According to a source, the drone hovered around the northern side of the temple for approximately 15 minutes, from 5:05 am to 5:20 am, before moving towards Sridanda.

The latest incident comes amid concerns over unauthorised drone flights near the temple, where such activity is restricted. Further details regarding the drone's operator and the circumstances surrounding the flight are awaited.

It can be mentioned here that the Jagannath Temple in Puri is a designated "Red Zone" (No-Fly Zone) primarily for security, crowd safety, and heritage preservation.

Following unauthorised drone incidents, India's DGCA officially banned all manned and unmanned aircraft over the temple perimeter until September 25, 2028.
