Cuttack, Jan 29: A woman sustained severe injuries after she was attacked by her in-laws and relatives during a major fight breakout.


The victim, identified as Simali Raut, wife of late Kabindra Behera, was residing with her two-year-old son at her in-laws’ house at Rasulpur Gram under Salepur Police Station in Cuttack.


Reports suggest that her father-in-law, brother-in-law Rabindra Behera, Abhiram Behera, along with relatives Baishnab Behera, Gautam Behera, and Mohan Behera, repeatedly harassed her.


On Wednesday night, Simali was severely beaten up by her brother-in-law and relatives and was threatened to be killed by them.


During the assault, Simali sustained severe injuries, including a fractured arm and multiple wounds across her body. Her elder sister, who tried to intervene, was also critically injured in the attack.


Following the incident, the victim approached the police and lodged a complaint at Salepur Police Station.


Taking note of the reports, police registered a case and initiated a probe into the incident.
