Netaji’s Contribution to India’s Freedom Struggle
Born on
January 23, 1897, in Cuttack, Odisha, Subhas Chandra Bose emerged as one of the
most dynamic leaders of India’s independence movement. A former Congress
leader, he broke away to chart his own path, believing that armed struggle was
essential to overthrow colonial rule.
Bose founded the Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army), which sought to
liberate India from British control with support from abroad. His famous call,
“Give me blood, and I will give you freedom,” galvanized thousands to join the
struggle. Netaji’s vision of a free, self-reliant India and his emphasis on
unity across communities remain deeply influential in the nation’s collective
memory.
Parakram
Diwas, instituted by the Government of India in 2021, is observed annually to
honour Bose’s legacy of courage and patriotism. The day serves as a reminder of
his unwavering dedication to the motherland and his enduring role as a symbol
of India’s indomitable spirit.
