Har Ghar Tiranga / Dharmendra Pradhan Leads 'Har Ghar Tiranga' Rally in Sambalpur

Sambalpur, Aug 9: Sambalpur witnessed a massive Tricolour rally on Sunday as thousands of people took to the streets carrying the national flag, with Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan leading the event as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

The rally saw the city reverberate with slogans of “Jai Hind”, while a sea of Tricolours was seen across the streets of Sambalpur.

The Sambalpur rally led by Pradhan added to the Tricolour celebrations across Odisha. Thousands of people joined the procession, carrying the national flag and raising patriotic slogans.

The event highlighted the participation of people in the campaign from Sambalpur, the land associated with freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai.

Meanwhile, the event was held on the same day Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the state-level ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of August Kranti Day.

Majhi appealed to the people of Odisha to hoist the national flag with pride at homes, villages, panchayats, cities, schools and offices from August 9 to 17.

Addressing the launch event in Bhubaneswar, the chief minister paid tribute to freedom fighters, martyrs and the immortal sons of Odisha who contributed to the country's freedom struggle. He recalled that the Quit India Movement, which began on August 9, 1942, from Mumbai’s August Kranti Maidan, gave a new direction to India’s freedom struggle.

Majhi said the Tricolour was not merely a combination of three colours but a symbol of the pride, dignity and aspirations of 1.4 billion Indians. He said saffron represents courage and sacrifice, white symbolises peace and truth, while green represents prosperity, with the Ashoka Chakra signifying the need to continue moving forward on the path of duty.

The chief minister also urged people to make the campaign environmentally friendly by completely avoiding plastic flags and using only cloth flags.

A colourful procession was organised in Bhubaneswar, with students from schools and colleges, Scouts and Guides, NCC and NSS volunteers participating with Tricolours in their hands. Cultural groups from different parts of Odisha showcased traditional folk dances and art forms.

Majhi also addressed the state's Gen-Z and youth, warning against the misuse of social media, substance abuse and other influences that could divert young people from their goals. He urged them to place patriotism first and gave the slogan, “One voice of youth power -- our country will remain safe.”

He further said Odisha would play a decisive role in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, with farmers, workers, youth and self-reliant women contributing to the state’s economic and industrial development.

The simultaneous programmes in Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur marked the beginning of the state-wide campaign, which will continue until August 17.
