Debagada, Aug 15: Sambalpur MP and former Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan is on a two-day visit to Odisha's Debagada district, during which he is meeting residents, beneficiaries of government schemes, women’s groups and artisans and reviewing development-related activities across several panchayats.

On Independence Day, Pradhan hoisted the national flag at 8:30 am at Jharabahal SSD High School in Bamparada panchayat of Barkote block and interacted with students and teachers.
As part of his visit, Pradhan met beneficiaries of government schemes, Mission Shakti leaders and Lakhpati Didis at Golabandha village. He also interacted with children and parents at an Anganwadi centre in Kateisahi.

Pradhan Directs Officials To Address Local Issues

During his visit to different panchayats, several women raised local issues before Pradhan. After hearing their concerns, he visited Nayak Sahi in Golabandha and directed the BDO to take steps regarding the reported lack of proper roads and an Anganwadi centre in the village. He also asked officials to examine the need for a community centre.

Pradhan further intervened after being informed about a student facing difficulties in securing admission to a school. He contacted officials over the phone and asked them to look into the matter.

In Thianal Siarihuli village, he reviewed houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) scheme and interacted with beneficiaries.

MP Interacts With Bamboo Artisans

During his visit to Gurusang village, Pradhan interacted with bamboo artisans and reviewed products made by local craftspeople as part of a skill-development programme.
Women artisans from the area showcased various household products made from bamboo. Pradhan interacted with them about their work and discussed with officials ways to support and expand their livelihood opportunities.

He appreciated the artisans’ work and felicitated some of the women. The artisans also presented him with a bamboo bird crafted by them, which he accepted.
Pradhan also visited a transformer manufacturing unit and a dairy unit at Gopalpali village under Bijayanagar panchayat during his visit.
